Cognitive Toolkit for Children
Our "OT Tools NZ Cognitive Toolkit for Children" is designed to strengthen, improve, challenge and stimulate the brain. Each of the toolkits includes a thought out instruction booklet written by occupational therapists with over 60 activities. These activities have been carefully selected and graded to ensure that the various areas of the brain are engaged. Our vision is that we give you all the tools required to begin maximizing cognitive and occupational function.
This toolkit includes beneficial developmental experiences for all children, although it has been designed for individuals who have cognitive difficulties. It includes 3 different dimensional puzzles, 4 activities designed to replicate activities of daily living, and several other resources that have activities associated to stimulate, challenge and exercise the child's brain.
Our "OT Tools NZ Cognitive Toolkit for Children" has been created to make each activity enjoyable through a 'play based approach'. It can be used alongside current therapy interventions, or as a fun way of receiving beneficial stimulating, cognitive and sensory input.
When you purchase one of these toolkits you will be asked to select the puzzle booklet that suits your requirements best:
- The booklet of 'Mazes' has various maze style puzzles which range in complexity. Children can quickly test their success in these as they 'exit' the maze on each page.
- The booklet of 'Dot to Dot' puzzles focusses on children's numeracy skills; each picture can be completed by connecting the "dots" in the correct numerical order. Each page can also be coloured in, targeting creativity and decreasing feelings of stress.
- The 'Standard Wordfind' has large print and a simple design. The solution is on the back of each page, so success with these puzzles can be easily checked. These wordfinds target children's literacy skills, as well as concentration and visual mapping.
-The ‘Mindfulness Puzzles’ is a booklet filled with 101 different puzzles. The puzzles vary in complexity from simple colouring to trivial brain teasers. Each page provides an additional element of mindfulness education and awareness.
